Kontour Design's latest addition - The new TW Trestle Table

Kontour Design is the design studio of Benedicte Verbraeken and Erno Dierckx. It started out with some drawings in their spare time. But after some positive reactions the idea grew to develop their own collection of design furniture. Kontour Design is minimalistic with colour usage, materials and shapes, but has well-thought-out design.

The TW trestle table is their latest creation; it consists of two trestles and a glass tabletop.

The original idea was to develop a table with a minimum amount of material.

That’s how they came to a structure with two trestles and a glass tabletop.

Even though the parts could be looked at as separate components, the table is designed as one whole concept.

The trestles consist of powder-coated, bent steel and solid oak. By using the metal profiles in a smart way, the trestle structure ends up being very light yet very strong.

The wood gives the trestle its natural touch.

They deliberately chose a glass table top, because of its transparency the design of the trestles, the eye catcher, remains visible. But they chose tinted glass to create more atmosphere and to move away from the coldness of ‘normal’ glass.

The design of the trestles brings a number of advantages. They are not only very light but because of their triangular shape, they fit perfectly next to each other during transport. Another result of the triangular shape is that it is perfectly possible to sit at the head of the table.

The table has a width of 84 cm, the length can be customized between 1,8 m and 2,2 m.
